Our Story
Once upon a blueprint, in the boundless expanse of imagination, a young Lynda sat under her grandmother's dining room table surrounded by fabric scraps, crayons, and cardboard only to create rooms that resembled colorful castles. From an early age, her world was one of shapes, shadows, and stories—a place where every corner had character, and every space held a secret.
Fast forward through decades of sketches, site visits, and soul-deep passion, and you’ll find Lynda, the beating heart behind Design Sense, a interior design studio born in 1999 with a singular vision: to craft spaces that don’t just exist but speak. Spaces that hum with life, pulse with purpose, and most importantly, tell your story.
Armed with a BFA in Interior Architecture from RISD and an M.S. in Healthcare Design from UNC-Greensboro, Lynda is not just a designer—she’s a translator of visual dreams. With over 30 years of experience spanning residential, commercial, healthcare, and hospitality design, she thrives in the exhilarating intersection of architecture and artful interiors.
Titles and accolades are merely brushstrokes on a larger canvas. NCIDQ-certified, a proud ASID member, and a Registered Interior Designer (RID), Lynda believes in the poetry of evidence-based design—where every detail has intent and every choice has a reason.
Design Sense isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces. It’s about connection—between walls and wonder, light and longing, people and purpose. Every project is a dialogue, an unfolding narrative where your vision is honored, your investment respected, and your space transformed into something unforgettable.
Welcome to the story. Let’s build it together!
Our Design Process
01
Discovery Call
First, we'll have a discovery call to determine if Design Sense is a good fit for you and you are a good fit for Design Sense. Your vision, needs, and goals will be discussed. Plan on a pre scheduled phone call lasting 20-30 minutes. If we're a match, you will secure a spot on our calendar for a on-site appointment.
03
Design Concept &
Space Planning
Once a letter of agreement has been signed, 50% payment will be secured based on your investment range provided in step 2. Conceptual design deliverables will include mood/material boards and 3D renderings to help you visualize the outcome. Once these valuable assets are approved, the scope and remaining fee will be finalized leading us to the last phase.
02
On-Site Appointment
Secondly, we'll move forward with an on-site visit to explore the space and understand your concerns and desires while gathering essential details. From here, we will recommend a specific service package based on your investment range. Plan on a 2 hour window of time that is paid prior to the site visit.
04
Sourcing, Product Procurement & Installation
In this last phase, you’ll truly experience the investment value of partnering with an experienced interior design team. We’ll take the overwhelm off your plate by sourcing exclusive, trade-only pieces that are timeless and unique. Every detail will be meticulously ordered, delivered, and installed with precision and care—ensuring your space not only meets but exceeds your expectations.
Studio Art
Lynda offers her own original artwork that is a vibrant tapestry of sustainability and storytelling, where North Carolina’s landscapes serve as both muse and canvas. Through an eclectic blend of multimedia collage, she weave's together textures, colors, and found materials, creating pieces that feel environmentally relevant to the subject matter and universally resonant. Each composition captures the essence of the region—its rolling hills, misty coastlines, and sunlit forests—while introducing lyrical melodies that seem to dance across the imagery. These melodies, whether visual or metaphorical, guide the viewer's eye in a rhythmic journey, inviting them to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves in the layered beauty of each creation.
Rooted in a commitment to sustainability, Lynda's work not only repurposes excess interior design samples but also breathes new life into them, transforming the discarded into the extraordinary. The result is art that feels alive—brimming with movement, sound, and emotion. It’s an invitation to see the familiar landscapes of North Carolina through fresh eyes, where every element, from texture to tone, contributes to a harmonious, multisensory experience.
Sustainable commissioned works are accepted in any size to reflect homesteads, special moments, and various scenes. Typical sizes include: 8" x 10", 16"x 20", and 24" x 48".
